In a beautiful forest, there lived many kinds of animals. They lived peacefully, and a lion was the king of the forest. But after many years, the lion got a serious cold. Soon, he died. All of the animals in the forest were sad to hear that, because the lion used to be a good king.
A few days later, they had to choose an animal to be their new king. Then, an elephant, a fox, and a monkey said together, “I want to be the new king!” So all of the animals started electing a new king. First, the elephant said, “I'm the strongest and the biggest animal, so I can protect you from any danger.” Suddenly, the fox said with an angry voice, “Hey! I asked you to help me pick the fruit two weeks ago, but you didn't. You're such a bad animal!” Then, everyone hated him and didn't vote for him to be the new king. But, nobody knew that it wasn't true. In fact, it was the fox, which was lying.
Next, the monkey said, “Humans and monkeys look very much alike, so I think I'm as smart as a person. Please vote for me.” Immediately, the fox shouted, “Because you look like a person, I think you are as bad as one, too. You will do a lot of bad things.” After hearing that, all of the animals decided not to vote for the monkey.
Finally, the fox said a lot of sweet words to attract them. So they thought the fox would be a good king. And they believed that the fox could protect them anytime and anywhere. Soon, all of the animals voted for him to be the new king. But, after being elected as the new king, the fox thought that he could do anything he wanted because he had a lot of power. So he used his power to threaten the animals. The fox asked them to find the best food for him, so that he could just relax all the time. When something bad happened, the fox didn't go to help them. This caused some animals to die. Everyone hated him very much. But they didn't know how to solve the problem because the fox was elected as the new king. The animals should obey his instructions, or they would die. At that time, they started to regret their choice.
So when the king came looking for the animals, they ran away because nobody wanted to see him. They just ignored him and talked continually at other places. The fox didn't know what was wrong with them. After a few days, the king wanted to take a walk. But there was a trap made by a hunter. Suddenly, he fell into the hole and couldn't climb out because the hole was too deep. When some animals came by the hole, they laughed at him and didn't help him.
The fox was sad because he realized he would die soon if nobody saved him. He thought that he shouldn't have been so strict with the other animals. And, he regretted that he wasn't a good king.
But now, it was too late because the hunter came and took him out of the hole. The fox looked at the animals sadly, but they just felt excited because the fox would never come back. The cow shouted, “Yippee! The king is gone.“ Then a bird said, “Next time, we should choose carefully, or we'll have a terrible life.”

Comments:
Excellent character development! The story is well thought out. The crafty fox gets his due in the end. And, all of the animals learn a lesson. The moral of the story is that we should choose our leaders wisely.
