My father works and earns money for us. If my home is a little grass, then he is the water and sunshine － he gives us power. My mother is the busiest person in my family, just like a bee. She does the housework, which must be so hard. My sister is the youngest person in my home and is the person who doesn't have to do any troublesome things. Play, play and play, it's the only thing that she has to do. I envy her. A four-person family is the structure of most families in this society.

　　Chinese food is what people in Taiwan usually eat. The second is fast food. Fast food isn't very healthy, it's full of oil and it has many calories, but it's the favorite of most children. Maybe it's because their parents do not allow fast food. Children can only eat it when they do not have much time to eat. For example: when they have to go to cram school, or if their parents didn't make lunch or supper for them. Taiwanese people also eat Japanese food and American food, because many cultures form this world. Like a pot of soup all mixed together, many cultures have been combined. So, when you're walking down the street, you can sometimes see steak houses, sushi shops, and so on.

　　 Holidays and special occasions are a part of every culture. For Taiwanese holidays, the best thing is that students don't have to go to school. We can stay home and celebrate the holiday happily using our own customs. In the New Year, we light fire crackers and eat dinner with our family members. During Dragon Boat Festival, we make and eat rice dumplings and we row dragon boats. During Moon Festival, we enjoy the full moon and eat moon cakes. On Tomb Sweeping Day, we clean the tombs of our ancestors with our relatives.

　　 Language is an important bridge in our life; we use it to communicate with each other. People in Taiwan spoke Taiwanese in the past, but about sixty years ago, a government from China came to Taiwan, and it didn't allow people to speak or write Taiwanese. Chinese was the only language that could be used. After a few years, the government gave people more freedom. People could use both Chinese and Taiwanese. Now, people use every language because of the internationalized world.

　　 Clothes are special in a culture too. We sometimes wear Chinese clothes, like in the past, because our ancestors were from China. There are many clothes from other countries in Taiwan. On the street, we can see people wearing different kinds of clothes. Just like how flowers that have different colors, it makes the society multicolored.

　　 Music provides knowledge of cultures. We generally have pop music, classical music and rock music in my culture. It's because the cultures of Western countries and Eastern countries have combined together. Classical is the music that I always listen to, but sometimes it is too slow and boring, so I try other types of music. Some people love pop or rock music. It is always loud but it can make people more energetic. All music has its special uses and merits.

　　 Cultures in the world are all different. They are unique, and we must learn the culture of every clan. It will make all humankind understand each other more easily.
